Sheridan, Wyoming – Rosemary Bumbaca Pettit, a beloved community member and dedicated family matriarch, passed away at the age of 89 on August 25, 2020, in her home in Coronado, California.

Born on April 28, 1931, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Pete and Mary Bumbaca, Rosemary’s early years were spent in her hometown, where she attended school. She later married Dr. Paul D. Pettit on January 20, 1951, in Omaha, Nebraska. Rosemary supported her husband in his medical practice, managing the billing in his office until his retirement.

In addition to her role as a dedicated wife and mother, Rosemary was also a prominent figure in her community. She was the founding president of F.O.C.U.S. (Friends of Children United Society), an organization that aimed to support children’s welfare. Furthermore, she was a member of C-GULLS at the Coronado Cays Yacht Club, engaging with others who shared her passion for boating and the ocean.

Rosemary pursued her creativity and passion for design by earning California certification in interior design, showcasing her keen eye for aesthetics. Earlier in her life, she also worked as a model, further illustrating her diverse interests and talents.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jimmy Bumbaca, sister Helen Hafey, and her husband, Dr. Paul D. Pettit. She is survived by three children: Dr. Paul Pettit and his wife Katie, of Jacksonville, Florida; Susan Pettit of Coronado, California; and Rosemary Pettit and her husband Greg, of Glendale, Arizona. As a loving grandmother, Rosemary is remembered by her ten grandchildren: Heather, Rosemary, Stephen, Christina, Meredith, Colleen, Paul, Bonnie, Lacey, and Karrie-Lynn, as well as 18 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. Notably, her great-grandchildren Paul and Jace Pettit, the sons of Heather, will greatly miss their beloved nona.

The family will hold a viewing at 9:00 AM on September 8, 2020, at Kane Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 10:00 AM at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
