Larkin, a middle blocker from St. George, Utah, also achieved her first career MW weekly honor. Holcomb, a senior middle blocker from Dallas, Texas, earned her third career MW weekly award.

In a noteworthy event within the Big West Conference, the Cal State Fullerton women’s volleyball team recently achieved a 3-0 win over UC San Diego. This victory marks their first win against UCSD and is significant as it represents head coach Nicky Cannon’s first conference victory and the Titans’ first conference win since November 2023.

The Titans showed a strong performance against UCSD with freshman outside hitter Lira Pukl Verdel leading the team with 11 kills. Fullerton’s team also managed to outscore UCSD in the error battle, committing 18 errors compared to UCSD’s 27. The Titans posted a hitting percentage of .308, while UCSD finished with a percentage of .228.

However, the Titans faced challenges when they played against Long Beach State, where they lost convincingly with set scores of 25-10, 25-19, and 25-11. This match marked the first time this season that the team recorded a negative hitting percentage, finishing at -.30%. Junior Sarah Schubert led offensively in this match with five kills.

The Titans are now focusing on their upcoming match against U.C. Davis on Thursday, with hopes of improving their conference record to 2-1. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
