Coronado, California – The Coronado Rotary Club has made a significant contribution towards supporting veterans by presenting a check for $30,000 to the Wounded Warrior Homes (WWH). The presentation took place on October 25, 2025, and is the result of funds raised from the club’s annual Low Tide Ride & Stride event, which is designed to benefit military organizations and first responders.
The Low Tide Ride & Stride event, held in June, attracted a record number of 734 participants this year, including runners, walkers, and bikers. Overall, the event raised over $186,000 to support various local organizations. This latest donation to WWH is aimed at facilitating two major initiatives designed to assist veterans.
The first initiative is known as “Operation Mental Health”, which provides vital mental health services to veterans in WWH’s care at no cost. In addition, WWH is currently working to employ licensed clinical therapists to aid these veterans in their mental health journey. The second initiative is the “Women’s Veteran Center”, which addresses the needs of homeless women veterans and their children. This center offers a range of services, including housing, a learning center, mental health services, a food pantry, and educational guidance, all provided at no cost to the participants.
Wounded Warrior Homes aims to facilitate services and transitional housing for veterans who are in need of rehabilitation as they adjust to civilian life. Each year, through its various programs, WWH assists over 500 veterans, offering essential support in their transition. Notably, two recent graduates from the WWH programs have successfully completed college degrees, one in Computer Science and the other in Music Production.
The Coronado Rotary Club, established in 1926 and recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is part of a global network with over 46,000 clubs worldwide. With more than 250 members, the club has been committed to serving both the local community and military personnel since its inception. Its annual Low Tide Ride & Stride event has been particularly celebrated for its contributions, receiving accolades from the San Diego Military Advisory Council and the Armed Services YMCA.
The financial support provided by the Coronado Rotary Club to Wounded Warrior Homes highlights the ongoing efforts of local organizations to uplift and assist veterans facing myriad challenges. With the help of community events like the Low Tide Ride & Stride, these initiatives demonstrate a significant commitment to improving the lives of those who have served in the military.
