Coronado Resident Sara Stillman Launches New Law Firm and Continues Community Involvement
Sara Stillman, a dedicated educator turned attorney, has officially opened her law firm in Coronado, specializing in estate, tax, and business planning. Located at 1330 Orange Avenue in Coronado Plaza, the law firm will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 25. Stillman’s journey from teaching to law is a testament to her commitment to community service and professional growth.
Born in Boston, Stillman moved to Coronado in 1992, where she became deeply rooted in the community. She attended Graham Memorial Preschool and progressed through the Coronado Unified School District (CUSD), completing her education there from preschool through 12th grade. Following high school, she returned to Boston for college and attended Northeastern University, where she developed her passion for public speaking.
After college, Stillman briefly worked in public relations before shifting her focus to education, inspired by her sister, Lindsey Sellstrom, a local teacher. She substitute taught at Christ Church Day School while completing her master’s degree in education and teaching credential at the University of San Diego. Her career in education included teaching at Evans School in La Jolla and returning to CCDS, where she taught throughout the COVID pandemic. A significant highlight of her teaching career was running a teaching pod in her final year, which she considers a pivotal moment.
Upon reevaluating her career path, Stillman returned to her initial interest in law, took the LSAT, and pursued a law degree. Throughout her studies, she gained practical experience as a law clerk for Tami Sandke and later at Hughes & Pizzuto law firm after graduation. Her law practice, now open in Coronado, is focused on estate planning, tax planning, and business planning.
In addition to her legal career, Stillman remains actively involved in her community. She has participated in the Coronado Junior Woman’s Club since 2014, serving as president from 2016 to 2018. She also chaired the event A Taste of Coronado, which raises funds for local causes, and continues to help plan this year’s event. Her leadership extended to the Coronado Flower Show, where she served as president for two years after their centennial event and remains involved with the Coronado Floral Association.
Recently, Stillman joined the Rotary Club in 2023 to engage in its international outreach efforts. Demonstrating her love for community events, she has been the master of ceremonies for the Coronado Fourth of July Parade for the past five years. Her connections extend into recreational activities, where she participates in the Coronado Mahjong Club, the Women’s Golf Club, and a co-ed adult softball team.
Locally, Stillman appreciates several eateries, including Garage Buona Forchetta, Stake, and Clayton’s Bistro. She underscores the importance of community involvement, encouraging others to volunteer, noting that these activities have significantly enriched both her life and career. With her new law firm, Stillman aims not only to provide legal services but also to deepen her ties to the Coronado community she calls home.
