Isabella Baranski, a graduating senior from Coronado High School, has obtained her pilot’s license just before graduation. After a year of rigorous training, Baranski logged extensive flight hours along the San Diego coastline, fueled by her childhood inspiration in Japan. Her journey into aviation includes joining a pilot training program and balancing academics with flight training. Recognized for her communication abilities and teamwork, Baranski aims to further her aviation studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, aspiring to become a commercial airline pilot. Her enthusiasm serves as an inspiration for aspiring pilots.

San Diego – In an impressive accomplishment, Isabella Baranski, a graduating senior from Coronado High School, earned her pilot’s license just ahead of her graduation in July 2025. This significant achievement comes after a year filled with dedicated training and education in aviation, showcasing Baranski’s ambition and commitment to her future career in the skies.

During her senior year, Baranski logged numerous hours flying over the scenic San Diego coastline, while also delving deep into aviation manuals to prepare herself for the demands of flying. Her journey into aviation began during her childhood in Japan, where she was inspired by her father’s work with military jets and her uncle’s experience as a private pilot.

After moving to San Diego, Baranski took concrete steps toward realizing her flying dreams, starting with a Discovery Flight, a preliminary lesson for aspiring pilots, during her junior year. Her exhilaration upon taking off for the first time confirmed her passion for flying, setting her on a path of continuous pursuit in the field.

Baranski received flight training from Learn to Fly San Diego and later joined Plus One Flyers, a program that emphasizes a club-based approach to pilot training. Throughout this period, she became acutely aware that becoming a skilled pilot is a rigorous process, requiring 90% study and only 10% time in the cockpit. To stay on top of her flying studies, Baranski dedicated an hour each day to her aviation coursework, alongside managing her regular school responsibilities and college applications.

Throughout her training, she acquired various flying fundamentals, mastering essential skills such as takeoffs, landings, stalls, touch-and-go maneuvers, emergency procedures, and night flying techniques. A milestone in her training was completing her first solo flight from Montgomery Field to Ramona Airport, an experience she found incredibly fulfilling.

Baranski’s flight training was marked by recognition from her peers for her effective communication skills and composure during high-pressure situations. This recognition speaks to her capabilities as a pilot-in-training, proving her aptitude for both flying and teamwork.

Among her favorite experiences, Baranski particularly relished flights along the San Diego coastline, where she enjoyed breathtaking ocean views and the chance to observe marine life from the sky. To document her aviation journey and motivate others, she created an Instagram account titled @flyingwithbella, which gained a following and attracted sponsorships from aviation-related companies such as Kore Aviation and UniAviation.

Looking ahead, Baranski plans to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona, to further her studies in aviation. She aspires to become a commercial airline pilot, fully committed to her career goals. With her experience and dedication, she encourages aspiring pilots to remain motivated and advises them to avoid comparisons with others during their flight training journeys.

Balancing her academic commitments and flying ambitions, Isabella Baranski exemplifies the effectiveness of determination and hard work in achieving one’s dreams, positioning herself as a rising star in the field of aviation.
