El Paso, Texas – Coronado High School baseball standout Ben Wilson has pledged to join New Mexico State University as a Division I baseball player. Wilson made his announcement on Monday night through his X account, expressing enthusiasm for the new opportunity and appreciation for the university’s coaching staff.
The 6-foot, 178-pound outfielder has garnered attention for his remarkable performance on the field. In the recently concluded high school baseball season, Wilson boasted an impressive batting average of .544, alongside 34 runs batted in (RBI) and 27 stolen bases. His contributions played a vital role in helping the Coronado Thunderbirds clinch the District 1-6A title and a bidistrict playoff championship against Midland High.
Beyond baseball, Wilson also showcases talent in football as a quarterback and wide receiver. He is projected to graduate from high school in June 2026, and his athletic versatility could prove beneficial as he transitions to collegiate sports.
Wilson’s outstanding abilities have not gone unnoticed. He was named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Super Elite Team in Class 6A and received All-State honors from the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.
