Forecasts indicate that northeast winds will reach speeds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially climbing to as high as 60 mph. In mountainous regions, isolated wind gusts could reach between 80 to 90 mph. Alongside these winds, humidity levels are predicted to drop to as low as 4%, severely increasing the likelihood of fire spread.

Among the wildfires, the Lilac Fire was the first to ignite, consuming approximately 80 acres and damaging two structures in the Bonsall area. This fire has led to the displacement of 86 residents due to mandatory evacuation orders that were issued to ensure public safety. Nearby, the Pala Fire broke out, burning around 17 acres in Pala and prompting evacuation orders that have since been lifted. Additionally, the Riverview Fire in Fallbrook scorched about one acre, also leading to temporary evacuation orders that have now been rescinded.

In an effort to curb wildfire dangers, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) initiated public safety power shutoffs starting Monday. This preventative measure has left over 15,463 customers without power as of Tuesday morning, with warnings extending to an additional 68,162 customers about potential outages in the wake of ongoing threatening conditions.

To assist those affected, SDG&E has established community resource centers, which are offering Wi-Fi access and charging stations for residents who have lost their power. A high wind warning also remains in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday for mountainous and valley areas, further emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

A fire weather watch is set to be issued for the mountains and valleys from 6 p.m. Wednesday until 6 p.m. Thursday, as strong Santa Ana winds combined with very dry conditions are expected to remain relentless in the region. A surge of offshore wind is anticipated from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning, escalating the fire danger before conditions are predicted to improve.

As the Santa Ana winds are expected to taper off by Friday, a cold upper-level storm system is projected to arrive over the weekend. This system may bring much-needed showers and low snow levels late Saturday through Sunday night, posing a potential relief to the dry weather that has contributed to the wildfires.
