This year marks the 36th annual celebration of MotorCars on MainStreet, organized by the MainStreet organization in collaboration with the City of Coronado. The car show has traditionally attracted between 12,000 to 15,000 spectators annually, showcasing an impressive collection of over 400 pre-1973 restored classic cars and trucks in previous years. For the first time, this year will also feature a custom lowrider selection, highlighting the vehicles’ historical significance and artistic craftsmanship.
In addition to the automotive displays, the event will include live music, commemorative t-shirts, raffles, and an award ceremony for participants. To support local businesses, outside vendors are not permitted to set up shop, encouraging attendees to explore local eateries and shops in the area.
MotorCars on MainStreet was initiated in 1988 as a part of a city-led revitalization effort to combat a high 35% vacancy rate in downtown Coronado. Since its inception, the event has played a significant role in boosting the local economy, drawing participants not only from Coronado but also from California, Arizona, Texas, and New York.
