Coronado Celebrates Eco-Friendly Homes at Annual Flower Show Judging

Coronado is buzzing with excitement as it has recognized a whopping 342 eco-friendly home fronts at this year’s Annual Flower Show Judging! This delightful event was a collaboration between the Emerald Keepers and the Coronado Floral Association, highlighting the town’s commitment to preserving the environment while enjoying the wonders of nature.

A Green Wave of Recognition

As Californians are becoming increasingly aware of their ecological footprints, homeowners in Coronado have stepped up their game, designed to conserve water, promote biodiversity, and nurture the soil. During the judging period from March 28 to March 30, homeowners showcased their efforts in making their properties a little slice of paradise. Each home was assessed based on effort, maintenance, and curb appeal, aligning with the traditional values of the Coronado Flower Show.

What’s even more exciting? The most stellar homes among these were awarded even greater recognition. Three homes, representing the crème de la crème of the eco-friendly movement, earned shiny additional green rosettes, nabbing the titles for Best in Village and Best in Cays.

Strict Guidelines Keep the Focus on Nature

Interestingly, one notable rule during this year’s judging was the disqualification of any home featuring fake grass. Fake grass, while often seen as low maintenance, has been identified as a plastic pollutant damaging to the environment, and the judges stuck to the criteria fiercely to ensure all winners genuinely supported eco-friendliness.

With 342 green ribbons handed out, it’s clear that eco-conscious transformations have taken root in every part of Coronado. A comprehensive list of the green ribbon winners featured numerous streets in the Village and Cays, spotlighting the impressive commitment of local residents to creating sustainable living spaces.

Your Eco-Friendly Champions

The prestigious title of Best in Village this year went to the lovely abode at 416 10th Street, while the first and second runners-up were also acknowledged for their environmental efforts. On the flip side, the honor of Best in Cays was awarded to 32 Green Turtle Road, along with additional runner-up homes also celebrated for their green touches.

A huge shoutout goes to all the volunteers who dedicated their time and efforts to judging the homes! Individuals like April Atkinson, Bill Berk, and many more played a pivotal role in the success of this event.
